North Carolina Chippendale Arm Chair Reproduction
This Mahogany chair was built as a reproduction of an original arm chair from Edenton, North Carolina - believed to have been built in the 1730's. This chair features classical Chippendale styling with a curved and shaped back, hand shaped arms and arm posts with carved knuckles and volutes, and a sculptured crest rail. The chair is shown with a black leather seat.
Solid Mahogany construction - many other woods available including cherry, tiger maple and walnut.
Hand shaped arms, back and crest rail.
Pinned mortise and tenon joinery used throughout.
The chair back is shaped to provide comfortable support for extended sitting.
Traditional H-shaped stretcher - hand fitted
Slip seat design - seat is upholstered in a traditional manner with webbing, padding and muslin - seats will be covered with customer's choice of fabric if provided.
Stained and finished with wiping varnish
Hand rubbed and waxed to a satiny sheen.
Several options available to make the chair more formal - these include a curved front rail, carved front legs, and various back rest (splat) and crest rail designs.
