Bertholdi Drafting Desk
This drafting desk is a reproduction of the desk upon which Frederick Bertholdi designed the Statue of Liberty in the 19th century. This desk was built from a photograph provided by one of my favorite customers. The desk shown was constructed of Cherry.
This desk features an adjustable drafting board which can be set at several different angles depending on the work at hand. A pencil tray is built into the top.
The large 34" x 46" writing surface is covered with a single piece of top quality leather.
The tilt top mechanism is modeled after a writing desk on display at Thomas Jefferson's Monticello.
A single dovetail drawer pulls out from the front to store a wide variety of supplies or paper.
An open storage compartment is provided in the space below the tilting top. This can hold drawings, blueprints, or additional supplies.
The desk features solid mortise and tenon construction, designed for generations of service.
