Connecticut Valley Candlestand with Drawer
The scalloped top candlestand shown below was constructed from solid cherry. The top is approximately 18" x 18" and stands 25" in height. The edges of the top feature a scalloped pattern typical of a number of Connecticut pieces, some of which are associated with the Chapin family workshop. The top on this table is made from a single wide board and the edges of the scalloped top are shaped by hand to a graceful curve. The candlestand features a double ended drawer which can be pulled out from either end (typically for storing candles). This piece is stained an antique cherry color and finished with hand rubbed boiled linseed oil and varnish.
